Officials cancel Memorial Day parade in Canandaigua

Officials in Canandaigua have called off its Memorial Day parade.

The City of Canandaigua made the decision in collaboration with American Legion Post 256.

City Manager John Goodwin tells MPNNow.com that the decision was difficult. “We don’t think we’re going to be in a position to have large-scale gatherings,” he explained to them.

Meanwhile, American Legion Post 256 Commander Larry Gamba called it unfortunate, and remained optimistic about the future.

“It’s unfortunate,” Gamba said. “At this point, you have to think about our community.”

Most communities in the region have cancelled large gatherings, whether they be government functions – or community building events.
