Section V has announced that Mynderse Academy Senior Indoor Track athlete, Michael Eller has been awarded a Section V Winter Sport scholarship for Indoor Track. As part of its mission to promote excellence in interscholastic athletics while supporting an education based learning environment, Section V offers a monetary scholarship for each sport each season to be used toward future academic endeavors. Winners are chosen based on a letter of recommendation from their coach, their high school transcript and activities sheet, as well as their responses to application questions. There were more than 100 applications for this season’s scholarships, making it a very competitive selection process.

Eller, a three-sport athlete, also participates in soccer and outdoor track. Last year, Michael qualified and attended the New Balance National Indoor Championship to compete in the race walk. Michael is also a hardworking student who excels in the classroom, is a member of the National Honor Society, serves as Senior Class President and is Vice-President of the Student Council. He also studies with the New Visions Medical Careers Program through BOCES. His future plans after graduation include a four-year university where he plans to study on a pre-med track with majors in Biology and Economics.
