Police: Woman kidnapped from home in Canandaigua; investigation ends with pursuit in Rochester

Police say a pair of Canandaigua men were taken into custody after a local woman was kidnapped from her apartment.

Police say Cooper was also charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

During the late hours of Friday, Cooper and McClure kidnapped the female victim from her apartment using force and a weapon, according to police. The pair forced the victim into her car and they drove her to a local bank where the victim was compelled to withdraw money from an ATM machine.

They then drove her to Rochester, where the victim ultimately escaped. After seeking help – the Canandaigua Police Department launched and investigation and put out an all-points bulletin for Cooper, McClure and the victim’s vehicle.

That vehicle was still believed to be in the Rochester-area.

Later that day, the victim’s stolen vehicle was located in Rochester. However, when Rochester Police attempted to initiate a traffic stop – a vehicle pursuit followed. While the vehicle did crash, a foot pursuit then occurred – as the pair attempted to flee.

After further investigation by the Canandaigua Police Department, the above charges were filed against the pair. Cooper, who is currently on parole, was held in the Ontario County Jail without bail. McClure was also held at the Ontario County Jail without bail.

The female victim, who was known to both Cooper and McClure, suffered minor injuries that did not require medical attention.
