While it was reported this week that stimulus checks were on their way – new details have emerged on what will follow.
After taxpayers have received their $1,200, or $2,400 check in the mail or by direct deposit – a letter will come in the mail.
The IRS contends that the letter will provide information on how the payment was made. It will also tell you how to report if you never received a payment.
It will be sent to the last-known address of the person receiving the check within 15 days.
The IRS says to watch out for scammers. Don’t give any personal information out to people you don’t know – and if you think you’re being targeted – contact the IRS directly.
Officials say most checks will be received by late-next week.
