Child Victims Act will not get extended in New York

There will be no extension of the Child Victims Act.

Lawmakers declined an extension, which allowed a one year window to file lawsuits in sex abuse cases.

Four state lawmakers had filed a joint-statement calling for an extension fo that window by a year.

The Coronavirus pandemic only enhanced those calls.

The lawmakers claimed hundreds of lawsuits have stalled in the pre-discovery stage.

Altogether more than 1,600 cases had been filed under the law.
