The Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office says that one person is dead, and two others recovering after a fire on Church Road in the town of Reading.
New York State Fire has joined in the investigation, which is being led by the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office into the blaze, which was reported around 7 a.m. on Sunday.
Deputies say a 63-year-old male was airlifted to Upstate Medical where he is being treated for burns. A 56-year-old female victim was treated and released form Schuyler Hospital.
However, another person died in the fire. Deputies did not release any identifying information.
Schuyler Ambulance, New York State Police, Beaver Dams Fire Department, Burdett Fire Department, Montour Falls Fire Department, Tyrone Fire Department, Watkins Glen Fire Department and Dundee Fire Department all assisted at the scene.
They say the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
