Geneva schools narrow search for superintendent to two candidates

The Geneva City School District Board of Education has narrowed its list of Superintendent candidates to two.

The following candidates have been identified, according to officials:

Patricia Garcia, Ph.D. previous experience includes: Superintendent of Schools for Hempstead Public Schools, Superintendent of Schools for Prince Edward County Public Schools, Superintendent of Schools for Central Falls Public Schools and most recently the  Superintendent of Schools at the Windham Public School District.

Shirley Green, Ed.D. – currently holds the position of Chief of Schools for the Rochester City School District. Green previously served as Principal at the Montessori Academy, the Executive Director of Specialized Services, and Principal for Mary McLeod Bethune School No. 45 and General Otis School No. 30.

As the Superintendent Search process continues, adjustments to the process have been necessary to address school closures and social distancing guidelines. To keep the integrity and timeline of the search process,  the Board of Education and Dr. Ramos, Search Consultant, will facilitate finalist interviews using the feedback from the school community survey along with the representation of stakeholder groups.  The Geneva Board of Education remains committed to selecting a candidate, allowing for a July 1, 2020 start date.
