State leaders have to come up with a budget. The deadline is hours away – with an outcome expected by nightfall.
The vote will happen by phone. It’s the first time such a thing will occur.
One of the biggest challenges that the state faces at the moment is a budget gap of $6 billion.
It’s largely caused by Medicaid.
Now though, the state is facing new questions and concerns as Governor Andrew Cuomo looks ahead at other shortfalls caused by COVID-19.
“We’re going to have to cut education aid because that’s the number one expense,” Cuomo said on Monday.
