Deputies: Phelps man charged with aggravated DWI after property damage crash

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a 57-year-old Phelps resident following a property damage accident on Melvin Hill Road.

William Charles Oaks, 57, of Phelps was charged with aggravated DWI, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, and failure to stop at a stop sign after an investigation into a hit-and-run.

It’s alleged that Oaks’ vehicle rolled through a stop sign, on Melvin Hill Road, striking another, and causing minor damage to the second vehicle.

He was located and arrested. The charges will be answered at a later date.
