A proposal from Rep. John Katko, (R) NY-24, and Rep. Brindisi, (D) NY-22, would allow property owners along Lake Ontario to sue the International Joint Commission.
That over the damage that was created along the Lake Ontario shoreline between 2017-19.
The two introduced a bill identified as the “IJC Accountability Act,” at a news conference in Oswego on Monday.
“It’s like talking to a brick wall. It is doublespeak. It’s half-justifications for things,” Rep. Katko said of the IJC.
The legislation would end immunity for IJC. Many contend that Plan 2014 played the biggest role in flooding along the lakeshore.
