More charges filed after Canandaigua murder, as suspect appears in court again

New charges have been filed against the man who was already facing a number of charges for the stabbing death of Julia Baker.

That incident unfolded on January 2nd in Canandaigua when William Fricke, 67, entered a home on West Lake Road, and stabbed Baker and Dennis Gruttadaro.

Gruttadoro survived, but Baker died from her injuries.

Fricke and Baker had a relationship at an earlier point. He had been charged with murder, kidnapping, burglary, attempted murder and assault.

Then on Friday, he was arraigned on the new charge of criminal possession of a weapon.

“We returned the second set of charges that relates specifically to the weapon, the gun that was alleged to be used during commission of the burglary and murder, not necessarily the weapon that caused the death,” said Ontario County District Attorney Jim Ritts.
