Judge orders severely autistic Yates County child back to school after vaccine ban

A Yates County child, who suffers from severe autism has been allowed to return to school, at least by the most-recent court order by Judge Dan Doyle.

The Chronicle-Express reports that Thorn Schwartz, has been allowed to return to his special education school in Rochester.

He was a local example of the nuance within the debate around medical exemptions and vaccinations.

Thorn was banned from his school Sept. 18, 2019 when the school doctor overruled Thorn’s doctor and denied his medical exemption from vaccines under the emergency regulations set by the New York State Department of Health in August 2019, according to the Chronicle-Express.

The Article 78, which was filed by his parents will be heard on February 21st. A rally is planned for 1:30 p.m. that day.

Read more about his compelling story, and the difficulties the family has endured due to the vaccination law from the Chronicle-Express.
