A Republican has dropped out of the race to succeed former Representative Chris Collins.
The district’s Republican leaders nominated state Sen. Chris Jacobs to run, which was a controversial pick. Many said that they were not satisfied with the choice.
That said, one of the other options – State Sen. Rob Ortt, has ended his campaign.
At this point, Jacobs will likely face off with Democrat Nate McMurray, who ran in 2018 against Collins. While he didn’t win, McMurray was celebrated by Democrats and moderates for running a balanced campaign.
The special election is slated for April 28th.
