The reported stalemate within the Tompkins County Legislature is over.
The Ithaca Times reports that County Clerk Maureen Reynolds named Shawna Black the chair of the legislature on Friday. She represents District 11, which includes the town of Ithaca.
A press release by legislator Mike Sigler signaled the announcement, according to the Times, who noted that he served as interim chair while the board attempted to make a decision.
“I would like to thank County Clerk Maureen Reynolds for her confidence in my ability to lead our Legislature,” Black said in that release. “I look forward to serving as Chair. Over the past week situations have changed and I look forward to a resolution at our February 18th meeting.”
