IPD investigates attempted robbery at city parking garage

The Ithaca Police Departments says they investigated an attempted robbery at the Seneca Street parking garage over the weekend.

On Saturday, during the late-evening hours, a black male approximately 20-30 years old wearing dark clothing approached the victim – displaying a knife – demanding money, and personal belongings.

The victim then began yelling, which caused the suspect to flee the scene.

Police investigated, but the victim declined further assistance from law enforcement.

“We are taking this opportunity to remind everyone to be aware of your surroundings and to call police for help if needed,” IPD said in a statement.

Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to call 607-272-9973.
