Penn Yan man who violated order, led police on chase through village arrested again

The Penn Yan Police Department reports the arrest of a 34-year-old following the violation of an active court order.

Aurel Jovanov, 34, of Penn Yan was charged with two counts of second-degree criminal contempt after it was determined that he violated a stay away order of protection.

Jovanov was taken into custody without incident, according to police.

He was held pending arraignment, and will answer the charges at a later date.

Jovanov was arrested earlier in January for violating an order of protection, then fleeing police – leading them on a foot chase through the village.

He was charged with two counts of criminal contempt, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration, and harassment after that incident.
