Ryan Poles will be in Miami for the Super Bowl, the biggest and brightest football stage of the year.
But as nearly any conversation with a former Canandaigua Academy football player tends to go, the talk eventually circles around to another football field: Evans Field.
“We packed up the family last summer and rented a house on the lake,” said Poles, who is the assistant director of player personnel with the Super Bowl-bound Kansas City Chiefs. “Canandaigua holds a very special place in my heart, and there is no better place in the summertime.”

Poles would know. He was a 6-foot-4 lineman for the Braves and graduated CA in 2003 so he spent much of his youth here, forging friendships and relationships. It’s not something he takes for granted, which is probably why he stopped at Evans Field for a visit with his family on that trip back home…
