Police in Ithaca have provided an update on the stabbing investigation, which began Friday night on West State Street.
They say that the victim, who had to be airlifted from Cayuga Medical Center to a regional trauma center, did not cooperate with law enforcement.
Investigators met with the victim, according to a press release, and at this point – the assault appears to be drug related. Police say the victim was likely targeted by a group of individuals who have not been identified.

Police investigate early-morning stabbing in Ithaca
One person was hospitalized after a stabbing during the early-morning hours on Friday.
Police say that around 2:13 a.m. they responded to a reported stabbing inside a building on West State Street in Ithaca.
Officers located a victim upon arrival, and began rendering medical aid until EMS arrived.
The victim, who was not identified, was taken to a regional hospital by ambulance.
The Ithaca Police Department says they were assisted by Bangs Ambulance, the Ithaca Fire Department, and Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office.
