W-FL Wednesday: Red Jacket girls win third straight; Waterloo boys beat Hornell

There were just three Wayne-Finger Lakes girls games on Wednesday night. Two girls games and one boys game.

The Red Jacket Indians won their third consecutive game after defeating the East Rochester Bombers by 12 points. Sydney Close scored a game-high 24 points to lead the way for the Indians. With the win, Red Jacket improves to 9-5 while East Rochester falls to 9-4 after their third straight loss.

Also on the girls side, the South Seneca Falcons picked up a four-point home win over the Geneva Panthers.

On the boys side, the Waterloo Indians defeated the Hornell Red Raiders by four points. Julian Ruiz buried two free throws with 6 seconds remaining to seal the win for the Indians.

After leading by 7 points with 1:20 remaining in the game, Hornell cut the lead to 2 points before Waterloo’s Julian Ruiz sealed the victory with 2 clutch free throws with 6 second left on the clock. Hornell is currently the top seeded team in Section V Class B1 standings.
