Authorities say a Cortland County man faces animal cruelty charges after 77 animals were removed from his residence.
The Cortland Community SPCA executed a search warrant in November, which resulted in close to 100 animals being discovered.
The warrant was executed on Irving Hand’s property. The conditions of the property was poor, according to investigators. Animals found at the property ranged from exotic to farm and domestic animals.
Hand was charged with 77 counts of failure to provide proper food and drink to an impounded animal. He was then issued seven more appearance tickets on January 17th for 12 more counts of the same charge and ordered to provide sanitary shelter at his residence to 12 more animals that are still there.
The CCSPCA is asking the public for donations to help pay for the continued care of the rescued animals.
