Jim Kelly faces backlash after endorsing Republican candidate for NY-27

A Buffalo Bills Hall of Famer is facing some backlash after making a political proclamation on social media over the weekend.

Jim Kelly, who resides in the 27th Congressional District, endorsed Beth Parlatoon on Saturday.

“Jill and I are supporting @BethForCongress,” Kelly wrote on Twitter. “Our daughters grew up together; we know her and trust her to stand for what matters most. She’s a strong Conservative/Republican we believe can win special election.”

Responders on social media then called him out for getting political and supporting a conservative candidate.

Jill Kelly then responded with her own tweet. “When you tweet to support a friend running for Congress that you’ve known for more than 20 years and you get hate. It’s called loyalty,” she said.

She is running against fellow Republicans Christopher Jacobs, Robert Ortt, Frank Smierciak II, as well as Democrat Nate McMurray in the April 28 special election, according to WHEC-TV.
