Two state agencies are seeking public input into a proposed expedited cleanup of contamination at the former TRW facility in Union Springs.
The proposed cleanup includes excavating and disposing of 10,000 cubic yard of heavily contaminated soils at the site on Salem Street.
The proposed excavation measures extends to depths of 16 feet, and covers approximately 18,000 square feet.
Planned backfilling of the deeper portion of the excavation with wood mulch and gravel will support the growth of microorganisms that can degrade site contaminants.
