Governor Andrew Cuomo has set the date for the special election to fill the seat vacated by former Congressman Chris Collins.
The date was set as April 28th, which is the same date as the state’s presidential primary.
Critics of the date say that it gives Democrats an unfair advantage, at a point when Republicans will not turn out as heavily.
Meanwhile, Cuomo and other Democrats have said that this is the most-efficient way to keep costs down associated with the special election.
The western part of Ontario County is included in the 27th Congressional District.
