One airlifted from fire on Liberty Street in Bath

On Sunday firefighters were called to 56 Liberty Street in Bath for the report of a structure fire.

Chief Matt Glashauser says smoke was showing from the three story building, with apartments on the upper two floors, and businesses on the first.

A second alarm brought The Bath VA, Kanona, Hammondsport, Pultney to the scene for additional manpower. Bath Ambulance and AMR Advanced Life support were also called; along with Bath Electric Gas and Water to shut off utilities.

One person had to be airlifted after they were found inside one of the smoke and fire-filled rooms by firefighters.

After firefighters put the fire out – and prevented it from spreading further – an investigation team was called in to determine the cause. The Red Cross was called to the scene as well.

The building has not yet been deemed safe.
