Junior forwards Brenden Locke and Tristan Mullin each had a goal and an assist, and junior goaltender Matthew Galajda made 25 saves for his second shutout of the season in the Cornell men’s hockey team’s 3-0 blanking of Rensselaer on Friday night at Houston Field House.
Cornell (12-1-1, 8-1 ECAC Hockey), which is ranked second nationally in both the USCHO.com and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine polls, completely dominated the first period with 16 of the game’s first 19 shots on goal. Rensselaer (8-11-1, 5-6-1) forced more pucks on net over the final 40 minutes, but the Big Red was able to keep the hosts at arm’s length thanks after second-period goals by Locke and senior forward Jeff Malott.
Cornell wins! Matthew Galajda pitched a shutout and goals from Tristan Mullin, Brenden Locke, and Jeff Malott do the rest to get the Red past RPI 3-0 to improve to 12-1-1! Join us tomorrow at 7 for our trip to Union!
