Thompson Hospital implements changes to improve emergency department

Addressing how patients are processed in the emergency department of a hospital is important work. Ensuring that patients are processed as quickly as possible, seen and treated, and given a good experience in the process are priorities.

In Canandaigua, Thompson Hospital has recently made some changes to move patients more quickly, according to The Canandaigua Messenger.

One of the major changes is placing physician assistants and nurse practitioners in from to the triage area. If the situation isn’t life threatening, seeing a patient faster allows for a better experience.

The change also allows those who need beds to be quickly processed and moved into the inpatient floor.

“We are proud of our progress and remain committed to further improvement,” said Michael F. Stapleton Jr., UR Medicine Thompson Health president and CEO, who spoke with the Messenger Post.
