New York Attorney General Letitia James is calling for some change. At the very least, she’s calling for bail reform changes to be reviewed.
James didn’t say which parts of the bail reform law that she felt needed to be reviewed or revisited. However, for some it’s enough of an admission to prompt a thorough review.
Those in the law enforcement community have said the bail reform changes go too far.
“I’m not going to negotiate in public,” James added, while speaking to the D&C and other local media after the inauguration of Monroe County Executive Adam Bello.
While James noted that additional state resources are needed to meet the demands of the new laws, safety is the biggest priority. “Safety should be the first priority,” she added in those comments.
