The buzz is real in Yates County, as officials prepare for a $10.3 million grant, which will go a long way to easing the County’s broadband needs.
When the Yates County Legislature met in December – the massive grant was approved through a resolution, which allowed Chairman Doug Paddock to sign it.
The grant is through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Utilities Service ReConnect Program.
County Administrator Nonie Flynn said while the USDA has not made a formal announcement on the grant, agency officials will be in Yates County on Jan. 7 to discuss details with local officials, according to the Finger Lakes Times.
A full-announcement is expected in late-January.
