With Christmas just less than two weeks away, some homeowners are still looking for a Christmas tree, whether its fake or real. If you do plan on getting “the real deal”, you’re going to want to make sure you maintain it properly.
Christmas Trees are beautiful to look at. If you have a real one inside of your home, they can also be dangerous if not properly cared for. WENY caught up with David Weil, the owner and founder of Empire Evergreens in Painted Post. Weil says there are thousands of trees to choose from when it comes to finding that perfect Christmas tree.
“We carry predominantly Fir trees, Balsam, Canaan, Fraser, Concolor and Douglas Fir,” says Weil.
Weil who opened Empire Evergreens back in 2002 gives folks the options of choosing and cutting their own trees down or buying a tree that is already pre-cut. But before you venture out to find that perfect Christmas tree, there are some things you should know.
“Keep it away from direct sources of heat, vents, bright windows, and make sure it has a fresh cut if its been cut more than 3 or 4 days. Also, maintain the water level in the bowl, so it doesn’t run dry,” says Weil.
