Community comes together for Ithaca police officer

An entire community is banding together to support an Ithaca Police Investigator.

Robert DuPay and his three sons lived here off County Route 14 in the town of Catharine. The house and everything in it was destroyed on Saturday.

Since then, a GoFundMe has raised more than $21,000. Furniture has also been donated along with Christmas gifts for DuPay’s children.

Ithaca Police Chief Dennis Nayor says he’s grateful there were no injuries or lives lost.

“When you find out it’s one of your own, it just shows that it could be anybody at any time,” said Nayor. “We’re glad we can help whenever we can because we just never know.”
