Closure means that Dundee will lose it’s only hometown grocery store
One community in the Finger Lakes will have one less grocery store in the coming weeks.
Martini’s ShurFine grocery store in Dundee will close for good, according to Finger Lakes News Radio, who reported the news on Tuesday.
Store owner Doug Martini says a closing date hasn’t been set yet, but the grocery is undergoing a liquidation sale in anticipation of closure.
“Every town should have a hometown grocery store and I am sorry that this had to happen,” Martini told Finger Lakes News Radio in a phone call.
But it’s become nearly impossible for local, non-corporate grocery stores to compete.
He says that selling the property, which sets at the main intersection in Dundee will be a challenge after its vacant.
There will also be ten people who will lose jobs as result of the closure.
