Deputies: Williamson man airlifted from scene of recycling truck crash with serious injuries

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a serious crash, which happened on Route 21 in Palmyra – shutting down the roadway temporarily on Thursday.

Investigators say the crash happened around 7:30 a.m. north of Jeffrey Road in Palmyra.

Carlos Ortiz Zayas, 40, of Geneva was operating a recycling truck, which he lost control of – crossing into the other lane.



The truck collided with a vehicle operated by a 47-year-old Williamson man. Daniel Decracker, identified by authorities as the operator, was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.

The investigation remains active, according to deputies, who say that Ortiz Zayas was not hurt.
