Central New Yorkers making minimum wage will get a raise at the end of the month.
The minimum wage for most of the state will increase from $11.10 to $11.70 on December 31, 2019. It’s part of the state’s plan to gradually increase minimum wage to $15 an hour.
It’s already $15 for New York City businesses with more than 11 employees.
On December 31, 2020, the minimum wage for all of New York except for NYC, Long Island and Westchester, will increase to $12.50. Those areas are on a different minimum wage schedule.
After that, the Division of Budget and Department of Labor will set a new schedule to determine how quickly it will increase to $15.
