A Black Friday shooting inside the mall and a stabbing the next day doesn’t seem to phase some shoppers at Destiny USA.
“It can happen anywhere I guess,” said Nancy Goss, who was taking her daughters shopping at the mall on Monday afternoon. “About a year ago we were here and there was actually a stabbing on Black Friday at Macy’s.”
Syracuse Police said neither of the two recent incidents were random acts of violence, which is a major reason that Goss says she didn’t have a problem coming to the mall.
On Black Friday, 21-year-old Kyree Truax opened fire in the food court and shot a man twice in the leg. Police say the shots came after a fight between the two men.
Truax is currently behind bars at the Onondaga County Justice Center.
