Felony charge filed after arrest made in Cayuga County burglary

Sheriff Brian Schenck reports an arrest following a residential burglary, which occurred on Sunday around 4:45 p.m. in the village of Fair Haven.

The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office says the crime was reported by the homeowner who was out of town in the State of Florida and observed the crime remotely as it occurred through a home security system.

The image of the individual from the security camera was distributed on social media, which resulted in 42-year-old Serra Longo, of Sterling – being identified as the suspect and taken into custody.

Sheriff Schenck says that Longo was charged with second-degree burglary, a felony, and petit larceny. He thanked the public for their assistance in the case.

Anyone with information about the investigation can call 315-253-3902.
