Katko says evidence isn’t there to impeach President Trump

Republican Rep. John Katko on Friday said he’s yet to reach a “final conclusion” on whether President Donald Trump should be impeached, but added the evidence isn’t there yet to move forward.

His comments come after a week of public impeachment hearings by the House Intelligence Committee in Washington.

In those hearing, witnesses have described an effort to pressure Ukrainian officials to announce an investigation of Trump’s political rivals. At the same time, Ambassador Gordon Sondland said the president, through his attorney Rudy Giuliani, sought to link military aid to a coveted White House visit.

Katko, who represents a swing district in central New York, told reporters the impeachment inquiry has been a “very troubling process.”
