Canandaigua loses to Carthage in Class A State Semifinal

Canandaigua was unable to rally in the waning moments of Friday’s state semifinal game, falling to Section III champion Carthage, 16-6, at Cicero-North Syracuse High School.

The Braves struck early on a Nathan Maclean pick-six on the second play of the game. Jeffrey Welch’s defense held the Comets to 13 total yards in the first quarter as well.

Dominic Comella carried the offense with 21 touches for 99 yards. The junior tailback caught a 40-yard pass late in the fourth quarter as well. Senior Zachary Wantuck contributed 10 carries and 52 yards.
