UR Medicine announced Monday that it will be the new owner of the former Sears store at the Marketplace Mall, which was left vacant when the company closed the location earlier this year.
The new UR Medicine Orthopaedics & Physical Performance Center will cover approximately 330,000 square feet and be the largest offsite facility for the organization. Patients would be treated for orthopaedic surgery and outpatient care, including operating rooms and procedure rooms. The center would be nearly three times the size of UR Medicine’s largest orthopaedic outpatient facility at Clinton Crossings, which is 120,000 square feet and sees 17,000 patients a month.
Construction would transform the current space into a multi-story tower with equipment, facilities and personnel to handle every patient’s diagnosis and treatment.
