Jack Morse dies: longtime television, radio and Syracuse Chiefs broadcaster

Jack Morse, a longtime television and radio broadcaster in Central New York, died on Thursday at his home in Manlius. He was 84 years old.

Morse spent more than four decades broadcasting in Central New York and was named to the Syracuse Press Club’s Wall of Distinction in 2002, a testimony to the years he put in covering area events.

He spent five years doing play-by-play for the Syracuse Chiefs. Despite some health issues in his later years related to COPD, he relished regular walks at ShoppingTown Mall with a group of local coaches. He was passionate about sports at all levels. His son, Andy, the youngest of four children, said he continued to follow box scores closely, even in his final years.
