Hobart dominates Rochester, retains Centennial Cup

It was a record-setting afternoon for the Hobart College football team as the Statesmen closed out the regular season with a 51-20 Liberty League win at the University of Rochester. The victory allowed Hobart to win the Centennial Cup, the annual prize for the winner of the Hobart-Rochester game, for the ninth straight season.

Junior kicker Kyle Hackett led the record-breaking charge. He finished the day with 15 points on three field goals and 6 extra points. It’s the most points by kicking by a Statesman in a game, breaking the record of 13 he set last season against Morrisville State. Hackett also tied a pair of record, field goals in a game and field goals in a season. It’s the 12th time a Hobart player has made three field goals in a game, the fifth time Hackett has done so. Hackett joins Shawn Fazio (in 1979) as the only Statesmen to make 11 field goals in a season.
