An appeals court on Friday denied Laura Rideout’s request for a new trial in the 2016 killing of her estranged husband.
Rideout’s attorneys had argued that the trial judge erred by not allowing her to be tried separately from her two sons. They argued that by failing to sever the cases against her co-defendants, her ability to mount an effective defense was limited.
Appellate judges, however, differed. They ruled Friday that the evidence against Rideout was substantial and the trial against her fair.
