Mets general manager Brodie Van Wagenen already said he’s going to take a look at what can be done to improve the team’s bullpen this offseason.
Could that start with someone in their own backyard?
According to SNY’s Andy Martino, the Mets are looking at Yankees’ free agent Dellin Betances as an option to bolster their bullpen.
The 31-year-old is freshh off a cruel season in terms of luck and injury. An All-Star caliber righty, Betances had a lat strain hold him out until Sept. 15. His return lasted two strikeouts and Betances proceeded to injure his Achilles. That was the end of his season.
With the injury history in mind, the Mets and any team looking to add Betances will be cautious while talking contract details due to the injuries.
