Family displaced after structure fire in Seneca Falls

Police say one family was displaced, but the interior living space of a home was spared after a blaze Tuesday morning in Seneca Falls.

The Seneca Falls Police Department reports that at approximately 8 a.m. they responded, along with firefighters from Seneca Falls and Fayette to the report of an active structure fire at 25 Seneca Manor Drive.

Upon arrival to the residence there was a smoke condition inside and an active fire in the ceiling on the home.

Although the damage caused by the fire was extensive, the fire departments made entry and extinguished the blaze before it spread to the interior living space of the home, police say.

The family of the home was displaced and were assisted by the American Red Cross.

Investigators say an electrical issue was the cause of the fire. Seneca County Code Enforcement and NYSEG also responded to the scene.
