Staff from the University of Rochester, in partnership with the New York State Department of Health, have developed a tool for physicians to identify and treat lung injury from e-cigarettes or vaping devices.
The guide was published Friday in The Lancet Respiratory Medicine.
In the past six months, more than 2,000 people have been diagnosed with the condition, which has caused 40 deaths in the United States.
The URMC treated 12 cases of suspected lung injury due to vaping between June and September.
