RIT hockey ties Niagara, 2-2

The RIT (6-1-2, 3-0-2 Atlantic Hockey) men’s hockey team tied Niagara University (0-6-1, 0-2-1 Atlantic Hockey) 2-2 in Atlantic Hockey action from the Gene Polisseni Center Friday evening. The Purple Eagles earned the extra point with a goal in the 3-on-3 overtime.

Niagara’s Eric Cooley scored with 39 seconds remaining in the 3-on-3 to give the Purple Eagles the point.

Shots were 26-21 in favor of RIT. The Tigers failed to score on four power play chances, while the Purple Eagles went 1-for-5 with the man advantage. RIT took five penalties for 10 minutes, while Niagara took four penalties for eight minutes.
