A State Senator warned Thursday that the new bail reform law could jeopardize public safety.
Senator Patrick Gallivan is a State Senator for New York’s 59th District and a former state trooper and Erie County Sheriff.
Law enforcement officers and victims advocates joined him Thursday to call for a change to the law before it takes effect Jan. 1.
Under the bail reform law, judges only have the power to set bail in most cases if they deem that the suspect is a flight risk.
