On Nov. 5, Ithaca Police officers responded to a complaint of a suicidal female at the 600 block of Chestnut St., according to a After officers arrive on the scene, they located the subject of the call to a 15-year-old resident. Officers spoke with her for a period of time in the presence of her father. They determined she was a danger to herself and, under the Mental Hygiene Law, took custody of her and tried to escort her to an ambulance for transport to Cayuga Medical Center.
As the officers were walking the female out, she became uncooperative and intentionally slammed her head into the face of one of the IPD officers who suffered a broken nose as a result. IPD officers remained calm and ensured the female was given medical assistance. She was transported to CMC via Bangs Ambulance without injury. As she was being transported, though, she made several statements about her intentionally striking the officer in the face.
