Having lost three games in a row to rival Indian River, the Auburn High School football team had no reason to think the fourth match Friday would end any differently.
But after four quarters, the game went to OT. Then a second OT. And the Maroons came from behind to win.
Cayuga County Legislator Tim Lattimore, the former Republican mayor, hopes the result is similar for him on Tuesday. Lattimore is facing Mayor Michael Quinn for the fourth time.
Lattimore tells NewsChannel 9’s Andrew Donovan, “They’ve been up and down but that’s the thing, you don’t win every time at this game, it’s tough, especially when odds are against you.”
Their rivalry began when Quill was fire chief and butted heads with Mayor Lattimore. Quill resigned, ran for mayor and beat his former boss in 2007, 2011 and again in 2015.
