Deputies: Waterloo man arrested on three felony charges after welfare fraud investigation

Deputies say that a 54-year-old Waterloo resident was arrested on multiple charges after a welfare fraud investigation.

Michael E. Bennett, 54, of Waterloo is accused of failing to report income while receiving public assistance between October 2018 and August 2019.

As result, deputies say Bennett was charged with third-degree welfare fraud, a Class D felony, as well as two counts of first-degree offering a false instrument for filing, both Class E felonies.

Bennett was arraigned and remanded to the Seneca County Correctional Facility. The charges will be answered at a later date.
