Canandaigua couple filed for public assistance, but failed to report income or business

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of two Canandaigua residents following an investigation into benefits applied for through public assistance.

On Wednesday Ashley Griepsma, 27, of Canandaigua was arrested for offering a false instrument for filing after she filed a false public assistance application by not reporting her business, her employment, and another person’s employment.

On Thursday, the other individual – identified as Jonah Trautman, 34, of Canandaigua was also arrested for offering a false instrument for filing after he filed an application for public assistance without reporting his employment.

Both were arrested, issued appearance tickets, and will answer the charges at a later date.
